Gadsby made the announcement during her Sydney Opera house show on Saturday, where the sold-out show was being recorded for the special. Further details are sparse and there is no release date just yet.
Nanette has been met with critical acclaim since its debut in March 2017. Gadsby won the Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the show. She’s already had to add many shows to keep up with the overwhelming demand. After her performances in Perth, she has a month-long stint at the Soho Theatre in London.
Gadsby has also stated that Nanette will be last stand up show before retiring. Her deadpan humour and sharp wit will be missed, but hopefully she’ll surprise us with another show in years to come.
The Tasmanian-born Gadsby will join a list of high-profile comedians to be featured on the service, with Netflix having previously released specials from the likes of Jack Whitehall, Russell Howard and Sarah Silverman.
