Australian Idol and I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here winner, Casey Donovan has defended her appearance in the latest Coles ad, which sees her singing along side members of staff and customers.

The 28-year-old singer as defended herself against critics saying she is a “sell-out” for appearing in the ad, telling KIIS 106.5’s Kyle and Jackie O what Francis Rossi from Status Quo told her, “He’s like, ‘Listen love, people are going to call you a sellout, just look at them and laugh’. So that’s what I’ve been doing over the weekend”.

In the current ad, which Status Quo also made a version of the Coles ad in 2013, Donovan sings Coles’ signature phrase “Down, down, prices are down” and also flew over to London to film part of the ad.

Also while talking to Kyle and Jackie O, Donovan agreed with Kyle, who said that ‘everyone is doing commercials because “it’s a pay-check”’, saying, “It is, and it’s fun. And that’s what Coles’ selling point to me was”.

“[They said] ‘Casey, we loved you in the jungle”, she continued, “You’re so down to earth, you’re funny and you look like you take the piss out of yourself

“And I was like, ‘that’s pretty much my life’”.
