Good Beer Week returns to Melbourne from 10th to 19th May, with more exciting foodie events than you can poke a fork at. The program includes events around Melbourne and Victoria for all appetites and wallets.

For those looking to treat themselves to a truly Melbourne foodie experience, Queen Victoria Market’s ‘A Fresh Hop Experience!’(Monday 13 May, $175) is for you. Guests will enjoy a multi-course meal among the iconic sheds, with all dishes produced in collaboration with some of the market’s favourite food providers. Each course will be paired with Brick Lane Beers, including a limited release fresh-hop beer brewed in collaboration with Ellerslie Hop Estate.

East Elevation and Blackhearts & Sparrows will be hosting aSeasonal Beer and Wine Feast (Tuesday 14 May, $100). Guests can expect a delicious autumnal three-course meal paired with sour mixed-fermentation beer from Wildflower, Molly Rose Brewing

and Dollar Bill Brewing. There will also be Blackhearts’ grafted-series collaboration wines from Boomtown and One Block, as well as beautiful fortified wine from Pennyweight Winery. Guests will be hosted by James Smith from The Crafty Pint, with informative and entertaining chats about the beers and wines.

Beer and fine dining aren’t mutually exclusive. Coming together again to bring good beer to the dining table, the European hosts BentSpoke upstairs at the beautiful Recoleta for Dinner at the Diner (Tuesday 14th May, $150). Enjoy drinks on the terrace followed by a four-course meal. Hosted by BentSpoke’s head brewer, European’s head chef and Recoleta’s butcher, this is a guaranteed night of good beer, good food and good company.

There is plenty for vegetarian and vegan foodies too, with Henry Sugar hosting a Stone & Wood Vegetarian Degustation (Tuesday 14 May, $95) hosted by head brewer Caolan Vaughan. This collaboration will see innovative and unique plant- based dishes paired with a range of limited releases from the Byron Bay brewers. Try beers never seen outside their taphouse alongside dishes that incorporate fresh brewing ingredients to truly reflect the brewing process and shared flavour profiles.

For those after some vegan delights, Bad Shepherd Brewing Co. will be hosting three different beers and vegan food experiences. Diners can opt for the Eat Drink Vegan (Sunday 19 May, $49 – $59) lunch or dinner VIP experience which includes four drinks, an all you can eat vegan buffet, a guided brewery tour, tasting with the head brewer and a Bad Shepherd gift pack. Those on a tight budget needn’t miss out; free entry is also on offer to choose your own vegan friendly beers and barbeque-inspired vegan food. Live music will accompany all three experiences.

For all the cheese lovers, Fury and Son Brewery will be hosting their event All Praise the Halloumi! (Saturday 11 May, $40). In honour of their favourite cheese, diners will get three different beers paired with different halloumi dishes, with live music and more delicious of Cypriot food options.

For some more budget friendly options, guests can attend Revolver Upstairs’ Beer and Noodle Night Market (Friday 17 May, free), which will see Colonel Tan’s Thai Kitchen and Moon Dog Brewery present their collaborative beer ‘Tan’s On Tap’. Guests can enjoy an affordable, specialty menu designed exclusively for the night, before exploring the local artisan stalls and the Revs’ store, while resident DJs play smooth beats. 50% of all sales from the Revs store will be donated to Melbourne’s Lost Dogs’ Home.

Good Beer Week, the biggest beer festival in the Southern Hemisphere, is an independent and not-for-profit festival that celebrates and promotes the renaissance that craft beer is enjoying globally. Since the festival’s inception in 2011, its central aim is to promote good beer and the community and culture that surround it.
