Most People Spend More Than a Year of Their Life Doing Laundry

LG launches new Top Load Smartwasher with large 14kg capacity to help get the laundry done in fewer loads and save time.

New research compiled by LG Electronics (LG) has revealed just how much time Australians spend doing laundry. The figures, released today from the LG Annual Household Survey 2016 (1), show that 58% of people surveyed spend a minimum of three hours per week doing their laundry and 59% do in excess of three separate washing loads per week. This means that most Australians during their lifetime will spend well over a year (384 days (2)) completing laundry, and get through an impressive 9,204 loads of washing. (3)

With no sign of the washing pile shrinking, LG has looked to ease the burden of this daily chore by developing large capacity washing machines. The new LG WTG1432VH / WTG1432WH  14kg Top Load Smartwasher, which has been launched in Australia, is designed to keep a busy family on top of their mountain of clothes and to help them reduce the overall loads required each week.

Brad Reed, Home Appliance Marketing Manager at LG Australia said: “It’s no secret that laundry can be a big task, especially when you have multiple loads on your to-do list. And while washing is important, at LG we think a lot of our customers would rather spend time doing other things over laundry.”

“Our research shows the overwhelming majority (82%) of Australians do laundry for more than one person and with laundry baskets constantly filled to the brim, it’s vital that we look to new technology to make this task easier. This is a big part of the reason busy families will love the option to wash larger loads with large capacity machines,” Reed added.

The LG study also shows that more than a quarter (26%) of people spend up to five hours a week washing their clothes, while 14% spend upwards of seven hours each week washing. This is almost the equivalent of a whole working day doing laundry!

Smart Diagnosis 3.0

With LG Smart Diagnosis, the washing machine can “talk for itself” using either a Smartphone app (4) or by calling the LG Customer Information Centre to find a solution that may save time and money on unnecessary callouts.

Good news – you can check washing without the hassle of opening the machine due to the convenient transparent glass lid.
