Tried and Tested: The Best Products for Dry Skin Type

Winter is the worst season if you have dry skin and religiously moisturizing your skin with the rights products is the only thing you can do. This list will provide you with the best and accessible products out there that has been tried and tested to be effective in hydrating your skin.

1. Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream
This moisturizer is probably one of the most powerful products to keep your skin soft and nourished. It contains Ceramide, a chemical that helps skin retain its moisture and prevent it from drying out, as well as six whipped African oils. Although it is on the pricey side, it is definitely worth it especially if your skin is extremely dry. However, if your skin is on the oily side, you may want to avoid using this product as it will make it worse with all the oils and ceramide in it.

2. Drunk Elephant’s B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum
Also by Drunk Elephant, this serum is very effective in hydrating your skin, especially when paired with Drunk Elephant’s Lala Retro Whipped Cream moisturizer. This serum is light on the skin and leaves the skin feeling plump after a few usages. It contains Vitamin B5 to retain hydration, Pineapple Ceramide to boost radiance and Sodium Hyaluronate to reduce wrinkles by boosting hydration.

3. Glow Recipe’s Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask
This product is one of Glow Recipe’s most famous products, especially for hydrating. Its formulation is mainly using natural ingredients such as avocado (hence, the name) and manuka honey. Both ingredients work by restoring moisture and collagen in the skin as well as by acting as antioxidants to revitalise the skin overnight. My skin always feels bouncy and pore-less after overnight use. It also doesn’t hurt that it comes in cute and colourful packaging.

4. Nivea Soft Moisturizing Crème
This might be one of the best drug store products I have ever tried. As someone with terrible eczema, this moisturizer changed my life forever after trying all kinds of creams. Although it is on the cheaper side and can be found in any supermarket or pharmacy, its quality proves that it’s always quality over quantity when it comes to skincare. This moisturizer can be used all over your body and also safe for your face. With Vitamin E and Jojoba oil as its main ingredients, your skin will thank you for it!

5. Frank Body Coffee Scrub
Frank Body brand is very famous for its coffee scrub. They offer various kinds of scrub and scents; peppermint coffee, cacao coffee, coconut coffee, lip coffee scrub, face coffee scrub. It contains mainly coffee (obviously!) and almond oil which takes off dry skin and leaves the skin feeling soft and hydrated. Price-wise, it is relatively cheaper for a non-drug-store product and has helped me so much with my eczema. Its packaging is really distinct and cute as well!

From these products, my personal favourite would surprisingly be Nivea Soft Moisturizing Crème as it is easy on the wallet and amazingly hydrating. Although these products worked perfectly on me, every skin has different reactions to different products. I would recommend doing a patch test before committing to them or ask for tester.
