A second woman is facing manslaughter charges over the death of 35-year-old beauty-salon owner Jean Huang, who died last week after a botched breast-filler procedure at the Medi Beauty Clinic in Chippendale.
Yueqiong Fu, 29, will face Burwood Local Court today, although it is still unknown what role she is alleged to have played in Jean Huang’s death or whether she was an employee of the beauty clinic where the procedure was performed.
Chinese tourist Jie Shao has already been charged with manslaughter over the death of the 35-year-old, after performing a breast enhancement procedure despite having no recognised Australian medical qualifications. Shao allegedly administered the wrong dose of anaesthetic before carrying out the cosmetic procedure, causing Huang to go into cardiac arrest. She was found unconscious and unresponsive by paramedics, and later died in hospital.
Sources claim that Shao and Huang knew each other through mutual friends, but it is unclear why Shao was performing such a risky medical procedure without any Australian medical qualifications.
In addition to manslaughter, Shao has also been charged with using a poison to endanger life, and hindering an investigation into a serious indictable offence.
