8,500 people packed a sun-drenched Victoria University Whitten Oval to watch as the Western Bulldogs cruised to a 26-point win over a visiting Fremantle Dockers. The relatively young Dogs were not intimidated by the more mature Dockers, as they tried to physically impose themselves on the game. Three first half goals from skipper Katie Brennan, left the visitors playing catch up for the rest of the day.
The action wasn’t limited to on the field with the Whitten Oval transformed into the ultimate celebration of women in sport, a place for women of all ages to support each other.
The Fan Zone was the place to be with the Priceline Pharmacy Health & Beauty Lounge where you could try your luck at ten-pin bowling, charge your phone and simply relax. Younger match goers had plenty to keep them occupied with the Disney Princess Adventure Zone, where they could try their hand on the mechanical surfboard or have their face painted. There was even a sports agility course and football drill to keep the next generation of footballers on their toes. The Pancake Parlour Photobooth was on hand to capture all the fun.
When feeling peckish, even the fussiest of eaters was catered to with a range of food trucks including Biggie Smalls, Gringo Grill, Mamma Van, Farang Thai Grill and Hot Dog Dynasty. There was also the Cape Grim BBQ and Barkers Café, for those after more traditional footy fare like a hot meat pie and sausage roll.
Two Birds Brewery were on hand for those fans needing something a little stronger. A range of their boutique beer were available including the all new ‘’Trail Blazer’, a crisp, clear and refreshing beer brewed with the best Australian malt and hops developed in partnership with the Western Bulldogs.
Those looking for a VIP match day experience were not disappointed with ‘The Garden’ presented by Two Birds Brewing. Located inside the playing arena, treated to a boundary line view of the field, guests were treated to a drinks package including Two Birds Brewing premium beers, wine and cider as well as traditional footy fare throughout the duration of the game.
