Youth oriented radio station Triple J has announced the location of this year’s One Night Stand music festival, which will take place in, drum roll please….. Mount Isa.
The North Queensland location will host the festival this year, despite recent reports the mining town has poor air quality that is giving residents lead poisoning.
Along with the location announcement of the One Night stand festival, Triple J has also announced some of the acts set to perform at the April 22 (Saturday) festival, which are: San Cisco, Tash Sultana, The Smith Street Band, and the Thundamentals.
Triple J Content Director, Ollie Wards, has commented on the selection of Mount Isa for the festival, saying, “Everyone at triple j is hyped for the most epic gig The Isa has ever seen,
“This will be the biggest blast the town has had since their daily 8 o’clock mine blast, he continued, “The One Night Stand is one of the best things we get to do, taking killer live acts from around the country to regional towns like Mount Isa”.
“We're packing the J Van with snacks and our musical mates and can’t wait to make the road trip into Mount Isa in April”.
Mount Isa City Council Mayor, Joyce McColloch has also commented on the festival coming to her neck of the woods, “The spotlight is on Mount Isa nationally now.
People wouldn't have considered us before and they're going to consider us now”. "The economic stimulus that's going to come to the community [is] just fantastic", she continued
"And what an opportune time to come to Mount Isa. We've had great rainfall so we're looking a little bit lusher than what we were and it's going to be a party atmosphere to inject into the community."
The festival is free to all attendees and is for all ages.
