Vegans everywhere better hold on to their hummus, because McDonald’s are reportedly trialing their first ever vegan burger.

Creatively named the ‘McVegan’, the completely plant-based Maccas burg is an absolute game changer for vegans who still want a greasy feed, featuring a soy-based patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup and mustard.

However, in cholesterol-reducing news, the McVegan is currently only available in Tampere, Finland, where it will be trialed until the end of November.

According to Veggie Athletic, at the end of the trial, McDonald’s will make a decision on the future of the McVegan and whether it will be rolled out to more locations.

McDonald’s Finnish Marketing Director, Christoffer Rönnbladm, said he was happy with the response to the new dish, saying that feedback has been ‘mostly positive’.

“We are following the reaction with interest and we are happy to receive feedback,” he said, “that’s the purpose of the trial”.

We’re crossing our fingers that the McVegan eventually makes its way down under, but let’s never forget that with the Finnish is where it all ve-gan.
