Celebrate! Studio Ghibli will be running in all capital cities and a few regional centres from August 24th to September 20th, featuring screenings of all 22 of Studio Ghibli’s titles.
For those of you a little less well versed in the art of Ghibli, the studio, helmed by Hayao Miyazaki, is known for it’s bizarre, wonderful, and entirely inventive animated films to delight children and adults alike.
Whilst most of us have at least heard of Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro, the screenings in both cities will include some of Ghibli’s lesser-known films, and a large number will be shown in the original 35mm format.
Some of the films to be shown include:
- Laputa: Castle in the Sky
- Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
- Howl’s Moving Castle
- Kiki’s Delivery Service
- Ocean Waves
With at least one participating cinema in all major cities, there is something for everyone to while away the last of the cold weather. There are always plenty of heart-warming comforts to choose from when Ghibli comes to town.
