If you’re like me, you love a good thrill but would rather steer clear of skydiving, bungee jumping or abseiling down cliffs. Fear of heights or ‘acrophobia’ is one of the most common fears. Heights often play a big part in extreme sports. But fear not – there are lots of other activities to get your adrenaline fix where you can have fun without having to look your fear directly in the eye.
Whitewater Rafting
Different river rapids fall into different rafting difficulties so find one that works for you and get that adrenaline pumping. Whitewater rafting is a must for anyone who loves a thrill and knows how to swim. This is a great adventure to experience with a group of friends.
Skiing & Snowboarding
All the best ski hills have a range of trails for different levels. The black diamond runs for the most experienced skiers and snowboarders are the steepest of slopes and probably not the best if you get nervous around steep declines. However, the green and blue runs are perfect for enjoying a ski or snowboard without feeling like you might tumble down the mountain.
Jetboating
Skim and spin across water at incredible velocity. You may need a rain jacket for this one but that is all part of the fun. With a professional jet boat driver at the wheel, you can just sit back and relax. Although I doubt you will be doing much relaxing at these speeds.
Surfing
Good waves can make for great surfing to get your blood pumping. Winds, tides and swells all affect surfing conditions, meaning no one day of surfing is the same. For those who know what they are doing, surfing can be one of the coolest thrills out there and can be done at breathtaking destinations around the world.
V8 Race Car Driving
Get behind the wheel for your own hot lap with a V8 driving adventure. With a professional driver by your side, you can experience acceleration, control and thrills like no other. I hope you don’t mind noise because you are in for a loud and wild ride.
Don’t let fear hold you back from doing the things you want to do. If skydiving is not for you, that is okay. There are plenty of other adventures waiting for you to dive into.
