Print My Baby Shower

CrowdInk had the chance to sit down (virtually) with Ike Paz, founder of Print-My-Baby-Shower and self-taught digital entrepreneur. He has some brilliant advice for aspiring online entrepreneurs ranging from SEO to finding your target market to when and how to change your products/services.

CrowdInk: Tell us about your brand. How did you get started? What was your inspiration?

Ike Paz: Print My Baby Shower got started from my need to start a business; and it’s also a ‘comeback’ story.

Back in 2010, I knew a little SEO and internet marketing so I found a niche that was underdeveloped online: baby showers.

I knew I could easily rank for keywords with posts and I did. I got the domain baby-shower-decoration-ideas.com. A term that got well over 10,000 searches a month at the time. I was profiting with adsense and things were good until the Google panda update hit my site like a ton of bricks. And yes, my site fell into the 20th page of Google hell for many of my high traffic keywords.

I knew then and there that I needed to create content for my visitors first, so I dusted off my keyboard and went back to work learning what baby shower hosts and expecting moms really wanted. I was one of the first people on YouTube to make elaborate diaper cakes.

For a while I was doing well, again sending that traffic to my drop-shipping diaper cake business, but I got late orders and I couldn’t rely on my drop shipper, plus, spent a ton of time sending emails to angry customers.

I needed to change my business model again, I needed more control over my business. During that time, I started noticing printable ‘this’ and printable ‘that’ on google search. Now, I can’t draw worth anything, but I could outsource. I found a great designer from the Philippines and she now does the bulk of my baby shower designs.

I married all of my failures together to gain success. I moved my site to a catchy domain (Print My Baby Shower) and the rest is baby shower history.

CI: What makes your brand unique?

IP: My content: videos, posts and prints are based on what my audience wants. I try to jam as much value into every printable game pack as possible.

Also, I provide free decorations and games as well. The premium printable games are supplementary. Any baby shower host could put on a nice baby shower, if they wanted to, without buying a thing.

CI: What’s your number 1 tip for aspiring entrepreneurs?

IP: Provide your audience what they want, don’t reinvent the wheel. Learn what your audience wants by using google keyword planner and by going into the forums where your audience lives.

And then, give it to them in spades!

CI: How do you like to spend your spare time?

IP: During the day I lift weights and I train Brazilian jiu jistu. At night I’m usually out enjoying dinner and drinks with friends. Relatively recently, I started two passion projects http://findfukuoka.com/ (site about food and life in Japan) and http://internetmarketinggym.com/ (site about my journey as a content marketer).
