With a recent study suggesting that, on average, Australians manage less than half the recommended steps each day, it’s pretty clear that most of us could work on our daily activity levels. But because we know going to the gym can be rather expensive and time consuming, we’ve rounded up some of the best fitness apps for iOS and Android.

If You Want To Train

They’re one of the biggest athletic-wear companies around, so it should come as no surprise that Nike also have one of the best fitness apps on the market. The Nike Training app, available on iOS and Android, features over 100 different workouts and plans, tailored to suit your equipment, fitness level and time constraints. It also tracks your activities, from a pickup game of soccer to an impromptu walk.

If You Want To Run

If running is more your speed, but you haven’t laced up your sneakers in a while, Couch To 5k could be right up your alley. Designed to help you ease into running 5Ks, the app is targeted at those with no real running experience. It’s definitely the least gruelling way to get into the sport, and is designed to prevent those common injuries that newer runners face.

If You Want To Practice Yoga

Get fit and flexible with Asana Rebel, an app loaded with yoga routines for yogis of varying abilities. The initial app is free, with plenty of workouts to choose from. For an annual or monthly fee, you can open up additional options that include longer workouts and full training plans. Get bending!
