Art Mob’s Exhibition Launch Today! Many Rivers to Cross

Art Mob’s newest exhibition hails from the small community of Lockhart River in far north Queensland. Euan, art connoisseur and director of Art Mob Hobart picked the pieces himself, back in April.

Many Rivers to Cross addresses the need for river systems and their importance to the ecology and communities of the region, along with the challenges that face remote aboriginal communities like Lockhart River.

The community was recently isolated, lacking telecommunications for nearly 3 months, causing businesses and the community as a whole to suffer. The art centre pulled together during their hardship and contacted galleries and agents asking for support with significant art purchases. Art Mob jumped on board and bought the full exhibition that you can now view at the gallery or on their website.

Two of these incredible pieces in the collection were too long to fit onto the small planes that run from Lockhart River,

so the dedicated art centre manager, Enoch Perazim and his assistant Terry Platt drove them the 850km distance to Cairns, along with the rest of the exhibition pieces, coincidentally having to cross literal rivers to reach their destination.

The exhibition launch will kick off at 6PM tonight in Hobart at the Art Mob gallery, however the artwork is available to view online.
