Hugh Hefner Dies 91

Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy magazine and other associated enterprises that include the Playboy Television Network and various websites and clubs, died of natural causes at the Playboy Mansion on Wednesday September 27th.

Following both the Great Depression and the Great War, Playboy’s launch in 1953 heralded a change in American sexual attitudes, sparking important public, mainstream conversations about expressions of sexuality. Hefner told The New York Times in 1993 he was most proud that [because of his work] “nice people can live together now. That [he] decontaminated the notion of premarital sex.”

He passed away with an estimated net worth of USD$43 million and leaves behind his wife, Playmate Crystal Harris, and four children.
