You have a friend in me

Five days a week for nine hours a day- work can be gruelling sometimes. Stuck in the office with no escape counting down the minutes until the end of the day, yep doing the same thing over and over again can be boring sometimes.

You’ve come to realise that one of the only things that can get you though those long hours some days are the people that surround you in that tiny office.

Whether we like it or not, these are the people that we see most days of our lives, sometimes we spend more time with these people than our families.

Occasionally we strike a gold mine, finding someone that we connect with on another level. Soon you’re wondering how you lived without seeing this person’s face everyday and what you would do without them.

You see each other all the time outside of work and people think you’ve known each other for years.

It’s at this moment you realise not only have you found a work friend, but you’ve managed to score yourself a best friend.

Having a work best friend is something great, but having a best friend at work is even better.

Here are five reasons that your work best friend is the best thing to ever happen to you.

  1. You spend all your time at work together.

Every second of every shift you can be found no further than a meter away from each other, if they find you they find your bestie.

Colleagues have even started calling you by each other’s names, not because you look the same but because you’re always together and they find it confusing.

  1. You spend all your time outside work together.

You actually make plans to spend time with each other outside work, just hanging out and doing normal things that friends do.

You text all the time and always find something fun to do when you have free time. You’ve even met each other’s friends and family, you’re well and truly part of each others lives and no one can change that.

  1. You know everything about each other.

You spend your spare time giving and taking each other’s advice on everything from professional to personal topics because you trust what the other has to say and value their opinion.

You know everything that’s going on in each other’s lives and as soon as you have some gossip, your bestie is the first to know.

  1. You cover for each other in a blink of an eye.

Whether it be a hangover at work, a issue with a colleague or personal problems, you’ve got each others backs.

You’re constantly on each other’s side and happy to tell a little white lie if it means saving them from a whole lot of trouble.

And even if your boss finds out you’re lying at least you’ll go down together, because if one of you falls, the other one does too.

  1. Your life wouldn’t be the same without them.

They make your work days fly by and your days off even better.

You’re lost and alone when they call in sick but spend the whole day texting and face timing anyway.

You can’t remember a time you didn’t have them on speed dial and thank the work gods that you both got to meet on your first day.

They’re the Ying to your Yang and even if one of you quits you know you’ll be besties forever.
