When the weather turns cold, venturing out on Friday nights can seem like a grim proposition. If you’re not willing to sacrifice your social life completely but are too drained to think of a way to welcome in the weekend, then we’ve got you covered, with five quick and easy ideas to keep you entertained this winter:

  1. Pizza Party

Who wants a fussy dinner party on a Friday night? Relive the slumber parties of your youth in style by getting your friends to bring the wine while you bring ingredients. Everyone can make their own pizza at a fraction of the cost of going out, and best of all, fancy clothes can be left on the hanger.

  1. Board Game Night

Pull out your old Monopoly box, set Scrabble up on the coffee table. Board game nights are a surefire way to have a good time, all without the cost and the cold of a night on the town.

  1. Viewing Party

‘Tis the season of shows to return, so capitalise on this by having your friends over to view the latest episodes of Game of Thrones. The cost? Popcorn and a blanket or two.

  1. Movie Marathons

If GoT isn’t really your thing (no judgement, we promise) then winter nights are the perfect time to revisit your favourite movie franchises. Think Star Wars, snacks, and several glasses of your favourite wine.

  1. Craft Party

Knitting isn’t just for nanas anymore. Break out the needles and wool, invite a few of your friends over, and see what you can all create. With more crafty DIYs than you can poke a stick at available online, your imagination is the only limit to what you can create.
