A new community space has opened its doors to engage, entertain and inspire people of all ages, whether you want to meditate or learn Mandarin, connect to the online world with confidence or create new craft pieces.
Forest Hill Chase has launched the community space in partnership with Whitehorse Churches Care to enable the local community to easily connect with services and be inspired to participate in new activities.
The space, which is open 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, has a weekly schedule of activities to help the community pursue new interests and activities, stay social and maintain a healthy wellbeing.
The schedule includes Story Time for Pre-Schoolers; language classes; knitting, craft and puzzle sessions; music hours; a women’s chat group; and Friday Try-day, at which a new activity will be taught weekly. The space will be reserved to teenagers on the first Tuesday afternoon of the month as an after-school hangout space.
Most activities are free, however a small fee may be charged for some classes to cover the cost of materials.
The new community space also hosts the Whitehorse Community Support Register – a partnership with Victoria Police, with a team of volunteers providing regular welfare/social phone calls to registrants.
The community space is located on Level 2 at Forest Hill Chase, opposite Australia Post.
To participate or book a spot in any activity or to volunteer or offer a particular skill, pop into the community space in person during open hours, call 1800 954 772 or visit www.foresthillcommunityspace.com or www.foresthillchase.com.au/whats-on/community-hub/.
