Belinda Hughes: The Natural Beauty Expert Tells All

CrowdInk had the chance to sit down (virtually) with Belinda Hughes, founder of Natural Beauty Expert, an online natural beauty and lifestyle magazine, to find out about being an entrepreneur in the natural beauty world, natural beauty advice, and her passion to become the Vogue of natural beauty.

CrowdInk: Tell us about your brand? How did you get started? What was the inspiration behind it? 

Belinda Hughes: Natural Beauty Expert is an online natural beauty and lifestyle magazine designed to be a resource for consumers to find the best natural beauty products available and accurate wellness information.

It developed naturally (no pun intended!) over time. What I was seeing as a therapist in the industry and on social media wellness blogs was a lack of accurate information on natural beauty and wellness. It became really obvious that there was a need for a publication from the experts to the consumer. I found myself constantly handing out information on my resources I loved to other people. In the end I said, ‘you know what, I’m going put all these resources in one place.’ That’s where it all started. 

I have always loved magazines and there was nothing in the natural beauty space that was sleek and well-designed, so that was also a major goal, to make natural beauty look as sexy as it feels. I always say I want to be the Vogue of natural beauty.

CI: What’s your number one piece of beauty advice? 

BH: Beauty comes from the inside. Eat well. Take care of yourself and use a great skincare routine. It’s simple and 90% of what’s necessary.

CI: What’s your number one tip for aspiring entrepreneurs? 

BH: Surround yourself with a great team and tribe. Support is so important on the entrepreneur journey, times get tough and you can lose your way otherwise.

CI: What do you do in your spare time? Hobbies? Interests?

BH: It’s safe to say I’m pretty beauty obsessed. I still do facials in my clinic on the weekends. But when I need some downtime, I spend it catching up with friends and family. Having a startup doesn’t leave time for much else.
