How this Women’s Wellness Festival Became Virtual Celebration of Growth and Empowerment Online

The landmark Seven Sisters Festival, usually hosted in Victoria, was forced to adapt to a virtual version of the women’s wellness festival. However, it may have been for the better as the event clearly continued to be a mecca for women’s wellbeing and self-development whilst also cultivating a community of loving and supporting festival-goers.

In a regular year, the festival would draw in thousands of women from across the country, but when the pandemic hit the founder, Lauren Woodman, had to make a rapid pivot to an online adaptation of the event. It was clear that the event became far more accessible to even more women from all parts of Australia who may never have originally had the opportunity to attend the physical 3-day event. Thus, creating a far more supporting, inclusive and powerful festival event than ever before.

The Founder:

Lauren Woodman, the founder of the world’s largest women’s wellbeing festival Seven Sisters, knows all about pivoting a business. When the pandemic hit, she was faced with a decision: abandon her 2020 festival entirely, or make a rapid pivot to an online business model. She chose the latter.

The women’s only empowerment festival, based in Victoria, usually draws in thousands of women from all over Australia for a 3-day and 3-night celebration of women. From its original gathering in 2012 of 350 women, the event has grown to thousands becoming the largest women’s only festival in the world and a mecca for women’s wellbeing and self-development.

What have you done to pivot, innovate during Covid?

For the festival to continue with its mission, Dr Woodman has shifted the festival to be 100% online, offering over 80+ Live workshops on Zoom, which will be recorded and made available after the event for guests to continue to watch at their own time, stating, “we want to make this event as accessible as possible as we all need a little support right now, as do our stallholders, presenters and therapists – who we are supporting with the shift online.”

Some of the online workshop titles include: The sacred seductress, Your immune health, Relationship recovery, DIY natural home & beauty, Fear & the sorceress, Freedom from emotional eating, Thrive as an empathy, The Science of intuition. They are also creating an online market place featuring links to stalls offering special discounts as well as showcasing an assortment of healers and psychics which are offering over 50% off their regular sessions for bookings made the week of the festival.
