Can Socks Change Your Mood?

While there is no proof that different coloured socks are linked to specific moods, brainfodder.org reported that studies can provide evidence to show your mood or work ethic can be dependent upon what you are wearing. Casual Fridays for instance, will generally find you being less productive that the rest of the working week.  This extends to all kinds of clothes…including socks!

Our ‘hidden’ clothing, like our socks and undies, can exert power over our self-confidence and self-perception, very useful in a professional setting, where you can’t necessarily be too flamboyant with the rest of your clothes. The example most commonly used is underwear, if you wear something that you perceive to be sexy, then you will generally feel more confident, but who says socks aren’t sexy?

While I pointed out that specific colours do not determine specific moods, your clothing could have a positive or negative affect on you. It’s no secret that our mood can affect our choice of clothing, not many people reach for a yellow dress when they’re feeling down. Brainfodder.org claims there is research to prove that wearing bright colours could help get you out of a slump. So when you get home from a long day at work, or you’re feeling under the weather, why not put on the brightest pair of socks you can find, science says it’ll cheer you up!
