The Louvre (the massive museum in Paris and most selfie-taken spot in the world) was part of a pretty awesome magic trick on Wednesday.
French artist, JR, seemingly made the glass pyramid that crowns the Louvre disappear by installing panels depicting the surrounding buildings so that it seamlessly blended in with it’s environment.
The resulting selfies and stills of the one-off installation are absolutely stunning.

Many folks thanking artist JR for making the #Louvre pyramid vanish…if you’re standing in the right spot that is. pic.twitter.com/FuLtzyZTJo

The glass pyramid was originally designed by architect I.M. Pei. The contemporary design was rather controversial when it was first installed and the installation by JR follows this thread, purposefully. JR writes that he loves “people being destabilised and trying to find the point.”
Well done, JR. Well done.
