Tragic Loss: Young Father Dies of Common Illness

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Blake Chown, a 25-year-old father of two, passed away unexpectedly after experiencing complications from tonsillitis. This sudden and devastating loss has left his partner, Ebonie Dowdy, and their two young children grieving.

Blake Chown initially sought medical attention on June 23 when he developed symptoms of a common throat infection, tonsillitis. After a visit to the hospital, he was prescribed steroids and discharged. However, two days later, he returned to the hospital due to difficulties in breathing.

Despite medical intervention, Blake experienced a medical episode upon returning home for the second time. Subsequently, he spent his birthday on life support at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. Tragically, he went into cardiac arrest, resulting in severe brain damage caused by a lack of oxygen.

Blake Chown, hailing from Wagga Wagga, sadly passed away on June 28, leaving behind his partner and their two children, aged two and three. Ebonie Dowdy, recounting the traumatic incident, shared how she fought for five minutes to save Blake’s life after he collapsed in front of their three-year-old child.

As emergency services were contacted, Ebonie performed resuscitation efforts until paramedics arrived. Blake was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was placed in a medically induced coma and connected to life support for the following five days. Ebonie knew, however, that the situation was dire, as she stated, “There was no hope, and I knew that from the time he left our house… I knew he wasn’t going to come out of it.”

In his last moments, Blake expressed his struggle to breathe, uttering the heart-wrenching words, “babe I can’t breathe, I feel like I’m dying.” Despite the dedicated efforts of medical professionals, Blake Chown succumbed to his condition, leaving behind a shattered family and loved ones mourning his untimely passing.
