CrowdInk had the opportunity to sit down (virtually) with Amy Green, founder of Green & Growing Coaching. She talks about how to build sustainable success, her biggest challenges in setting up the business, and how true success starts inside and works its way outward.
CrowdInk: What was the inspiration behind Green & Growing Coaching?
Amy Green: Green and Growing Coaching really came about as I felt I wasn’t being all of me, and I knew there was something else I was destined to do. I know it sounds crazy, but it was a feeling I had, that was almost pulling me to do more with my life. My own personal experiences and thoughts are what really inspired me to build this business. It is also knowing how much I can help others and that I can contribute to the quality and happiness of the lives of others. It would be selfish to keep that all to me.
CI: Did you always want to be a coach? What got you into it?
AG: A friend introduced me to the idea of becoming a mindset coach, which, at the time, I had no idea what that meant. After a little bit of investigating, I soon realised this was it, this was what I was meant to be doing. Coaching and helping others, so they too can live their best life and be all of who they are.
CI: How is a mindset coach specialising in health and wellness different to other types of coaches and coaching?
AG: Health and wellness is a really important niche to me, and I believe for others too. If we don’t have our health, inside and out, we can’t have anything, fully and happily. As a coach in this area, I believe in working from the inside-out. Your health isn’t just about physical fitness, it is about who you are being, what you are telling yourself, and how happy you are. I aim to work on clients with this so they can then tackle anything that comes their way.
CI: What type of clients do you work with? What results can they expect?
AG: I work with clients who want to achieve something new and challenging, who want to change, or who want to grow. I help people on health and fitness journeys by filling the gap between the PT sessions/exercise programs and diet plans, as often we have these but don’t get the results we desire. We need to work on our thinking and us first. I work with clients on goal-setting strategy sessions so they can have an action plan to achieve what they are after.
I help people with their ‘Sustainable Why’ and identifying their values. Whatever the perceived problem, my clients can be assured that, with commitments from myself and themselves, results will happen. Results for my clients are as big as they allow them to be, based on how well they commit to the session and the action they take.
CI: What has been the biggest challenge to date in setting up your business?
AG: The biggest challenge is getting clients. It isn’t common for people to seek help, put themselves first, or invest in themselves in this way. People will easily give themselves new material things or permission to attend social events, but asking them to value themselves enough to give to themselves a way to really grow, learn, and be challenged to achieve success is something new and different.
CI: What is your number 1 tip for aspiring entrepreneurs?
AG: Set goals, long-term and short-term, and work towards them everyday. Even when there are setbacks, you are tired, or feeling beat, remember why you started in the first place, dig deep, and keep going. There is no such thing as failure, only feedback.
CI: What do you do for fun? What are your hobbies/interests?
AG: Fun, downtime, and time off are so important. I do this by spending time with family and friends, going to the cinema, shopping, taking in the sunshine, and just allowing myself to be in the moment.
