Move to Greece and Cure Depression

Feeling a little blue? Feeling so blue that you’ve transformed into a black abyss of depression? Me too! But don’t worry; another study has been published detailing how you can curb those bad feelings by changing what you shove into your gob.

Now, if you’re anything like me, you might be a little sick of having a new research paper come out every second day telling you (and contradicting the one before) how to make depression go away. It’s always nice to get hints here and there, but when you’ve tried the 17th different diet and you still can’t seem to shake it off, you start to doubt your ability to get better. So, in saying that, take what I’m about to tell you with a grain of salt. It’s never a bad idea to supplement your medication, therapy, and general mental health care with a healthy diet.

Molecular Psychiatry has published a study suggesting that Mediterranean diets lower your risk of depression. Plant-based diets that have little meat and dairy improve mental health. If you have a diet that indulges in trans fats, alcohol, and processed meats it causes an inflammatory response in your body, which flares up when you are stressed. So, in other words, your body freaks out when you eat or drink those delicious items, and then when you are stressed it becomes a Berlin-Style Rave of stress and depression.

Take what you want from that, but try and be kind to yourself.
