Tumblr addict or casual, haven’t-read-a-book-since-high-school-but-am-emotionally-invested-in-my-netflix-binge type human being, Twitter feels you. We may not do book clubs anymore, but with Twitter, Reddit, Tumblr, and even facebook, it’s never been so easy to find superfans for whatever you’re into to gasp, laugh, and cry with.

Closet (or cupboard) Harry Potter nerd? There’s a group for you: Potterheads.

Netflix binger of Supernatural (SPNfamily), Doctor Who (Whovians), and Sherlock (Cumberb*tches)? There’s a group for you: SuperWhoLock.

Star Trek obsessed? There’s a group for you: Trekkies (throwback).

And when these fandoms get together (virtually or in the real world) s*** gets a little bananas. There are pic-stitches, gifs, fanfic recs, ship blogs, merch, and cosplays. And then there’s the hashtags that go viral that will leave you in a pool of despair.

Like this one: #fictionaldeathsiwillnevergetover. That’s right. Masochistic fans are bringing back all of the greatest hits of emotional turmoil from years and seasons past.

Here are some of our favorite characters to mourn and what fandom has to say about them:

Fred Weasley (Harry Potter)

Jamie Sullivan (A Walk To Remember)

Tadashi Hamada (Big Hero 6)

Chris, Freddie, Grace Violet (Skins)

Sherlock Holmes (BBC Sherlock)

The 10th Doctor (Doctor Who)

Charlie Bradbury (Supernatural)

We’re Sorry.
But it’s such a sweet sorrow.
