Paradise of Port Douglas: 3 Best Bites

Bel-Cibo Restaurant

Living in the paradise of Port Douglas gave me some of the most pleasant memories of my life – the people who lived in the town, the backpackers working their butts off in the 5-star hotels, and the food that was so delicious, it made Italy look like the second greatest food nation. Yes, I can say this, because I am Italian.

What was great about the dining culture and experiences I had in Port Douglas, were the large amount of affordable and great restaurants that were present in such a small and tourist-filled town. Here are some of my favorite restaurants that I came across in the beautiful Far North Queensland suburb.

Bel-Cibo

Bel-Cibo is a beautiful fine dining Italian restaurant that is in the main heart of Port Douglas in Macrossan St. With delicious pizza, pasta, and head chef Andy Gray’s specially cooked chilli mud crab, it creates an indulgence that makes customers never want to leave the establishment. Their incredible two course set lunch menu with a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is only $29.95, which is an absolute steal for the beautiful quality food and great service at Bel-Cibo restaurant.

On The Inlet Restaurant

On The Inlet Restaurant is a stunning seafood restaurant that is located on Inlet Street, near the Marina Mirage in Port Douglas. What is great about this place is the friendly staff, beautiful music, and the generous portions that are provided at their facility. On The Inlet Restaurant has a great deal during the snacking hours of 3:30pm and 5:30pm, that has the OTI bucket of prawns and a glass of wine or beer on tap for only $18. When I say bucket, I mean an actual bucket, by the way.

Bazaar

Bazaar is located within the QT hotel establishment that is positioned on Port Douglas Road, across from the Sheraton Mirage golf course. What you immediately notice is the beautiful scenery around the restaurant with a flowing river running around the ramp entrance.

The food is delicious, with a buffet filled with fresh seafood, steak cooked to your liking, and mouth-watering wood fire pizza that is so good, you may think you’re back in Sicily. Now at $55 a head, it’s a fair bit more expensive than the other restaurants. However, for the quality of food and service that is provided, it is a complete bargain price, full of serenity.
