Aussie Actress Rebel Wilson has returned down under, not to make a new movie, but to sue Bauer Media’s Woman’s Day magazine for defamation.
In 2015, the magazine, along with other Bauer Media mags OK! and Women’s Weekly, published articles about the actress saying that she was lying about her age and background, using a fake name and creating stories to make it in Hollywood.
As a result, Wilson says she ‘lost work because of what was written’, with her lawyer, Renee Embom, telling a court last Friday that ‘the articles heavily impacted her livelihood and further career prospects’ and ‘Wilson’s reputation as a fair and honest person had been destroyed’.
“Ms Wilson will give evidence that after the articles, her contracts were terminated”, she continued
“She was told she was too divisive … it’s destroyed (her) reputation as a fair and honest person”.
The trial regarding this court is set to start on May 22.
