Marcella: She’s Investigating a Killer, But is it Her?

Marcella’s life is falling apart. Her kids are away at boarding school. Her husband left her. She’s back investigating a case after ten years of leave.

Oh, and she also might be the prime suspect; she just can’t remember.

As bomb after life-altering bomb lands on Marcella’s lap, she starts experiencing blackouts.

Placed in an incomprehensible circumstance, Marcella finds herself searching for a killer that might just be looking back at her in the mirror.

The only terrifying facts she can recall are visiting one of the victims before they turn up dead, then waking up covered in blood in the tub.

Marcella finds herself back on the police force working as a detective after a decade long absence raising her children.

After she is called to check some points of an investigation after a copycat murderer shows up, she wastes no time asking for her job back and jumping in right where she left off; which means going full-force after the man she’s always suspected.

Her superiors are not thrilled, but she’s unfazed.

The string of murders are seemingly related by the signature cause of death; suffocation by plastic bag; however, Marcella uncovers discrepancies confirming her theory that there may be multiple killers.

When one of the victims shows an undeniable link to both Marcella and her husband, she starts to seriously doubt her innocence in the serial murders.

Unlike many crime shows, Marcella pretty much operates alone. Constantly putting herself in the eye of the hurricane, and only finding an umbrella at the last minute.

As her life comes crashing down, Marcella lets herself become completely overtaken by the case and follows a reckless downward spiral.
