Oprah Winfrey is returning to Melbourne after five years away from Australia. Her last appearance in Federation Square drew a crowd of nearly 10,000 people, despite the 8,000 person capacity of the plaza. She has said of the event, “it changed my life.”
Fans, and really anyone who’s met the woman, like Oprah because no matter your walk of life, she wants to hear your steps. She seems to be as comfortable speaking to President Obama as former Prime Minister Julia Gillard as your local librarian. She wants to hear our stories and she wants to inspire us to be our best selves today, not after we get the promotion.
There are regrets. Oprah has said that she was left feeling a sense of “emptiness” in not being able to spend more time with fans during the December 2010 tour.
