Brisbane’s Best Picnic Spots

Brisbane's Picnic Spots

With Brisbane’s year-round sunshine and subtropical climate, there is never a bad time to have a picnic. There are so many gorgeous spots to relax and enjoy one. Here are some of our favourite picnic picks around Brisbane:

Kangaroo Point Cliffs
These heritage-listed cliffs have a stunning view of the Brisbane River and CBD. Find a spot on a rocky landing or a grassy patch and enjoy the view. For the best picnic experience, go in the afternoon to see the sunset. This way you can take in the city in all its daylight and evening glory.

J C Slaughter Falls
In this open eucalypt forest in the Mt Coot-tha Reserve, the waterfall is seasonal as the creek flows best after periods of heavy rainfall. However, the bushwalk can still be enjoyed at any time of the year. The J C Slaughter Falls picnic area has picnic tables and wood barbeques so you can make the most of your visit.

Wynnum-Manly Foreshore
The Wynnum-Manly Foreshore is the perfect spot to enjoy the sea breeze of Brisbane’s bayside. You can set up on the beach or parkland next to the marina of yachts and delight in the island views.

City Botanic Gardens
These gardens are a piece of serenity in the centre of the hustle and bustle of Brisbane City. The heritage-listed gardens feature rare botanic species, a lake and formal lawns. You may even glimpse a wedding ceremony.

New Farm Park
New Farm Park is one of Brisbane’s oldest, grandest and largest parks and is set along the Brisbane River. Here you can wander the stunning gardens and open fields. The Jacaranda trees are a sight to behold when flowering. The park often hosts live music and other special events.

Shorncliffe Pier
Take a stroll down the Shorncliffe Pier and enjoy the peaceful waterfront views. You can find a spot on the beach or use the picnic tables and barbeques along the shore.

Time to explore Brisbane’s picnic culture and enjoy the scenic spaces the city has to offer.
