Voice of Dory and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is making a comeback to stand up comedy after 15 years away from that spotlight, so to speak.
DeGeneres made the announcement on Wednesday May 24 on her popular daytime talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show and will be partnering with Netflix to put the show on.
Her return, however, was not her idea to begin with as Netflix US used its Twitter account to ask if she would do a stand up special for them, tweeting:
“Looks like it’s been 15 years since you did a stand-up special, @TheEllenShow. How about one for Netflix?”– @netflix
To which Ellen replied 13 minutes later with “Let me think about it. Ok I’m in.”– @TheEllenShow
Shortly after the announcement was made, Netflix and DeGeneres confirmed it to with the Huffington Post and, in a statement provided to them by Netflix, Ellen said, “It has been 15 years since I did a stand-up special. 15 years,
“And I’m writing it now, I can’t wait. I’ll keep you posted when and where I’m gonna shoot my Netflix special. I’m excited to do it; I’m excited for you to see it”.
When her stand up special will air has not be confirmed.
