CrowdINK: What was your inspiration behind starting mytravelaffairs.com?

Marysia Maciocha: To be honest I started my blog for friend and family and for keeping track with my travels. I must admit I had no idea about all this travel blogging at that time, didn’t know any famous blogger either. I’m a bit jealous about this these people who are starting with a business plan and a bigger understanding of the industry, it would save me few years of learning from my own mistakes.

CI: Have you always been involved in travel?

MM: Not sure I can say always, but I do travel almost constantly for past 11 years, it seems like always  It all started back in 2005 when I went for 2-weeks holidays to Spain and didn’t come back for next 6 months. My dean was mad, he didn’t expect such behave from an A student but somehow I managed not to be thrown out of Uni.

CI: What’s your favourite destination you have travelled to?

MM: Iran, without hesitation. I loved many places I have visited such as Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, and Benin. There are many places I do go back over and over again, but Iran was just amazing. I had a lot of expectations, heard lots of good and still been blown away by architecture, people and their hospitality. Best trip of my life so far.

CI: What is your tip to other aspiring bloggers?

MM: Research and prepare for a lot of hard work Put your heart in it, mix it with a lot of effort and patience and it will eventually pays off. Oh and the most important tip, do travel, it is hard to be a travel blogger if you don’t; you need stories and adventures to share.

CI: What is the biggest challenge you faced when starting your blog?

MM: I think it was lack of knowledge ho to run a successful blog, and I’m still learning. Another big challenge for me is making time to work, when you travel so much as me, often in regions which do not have an easy Internet access it is challenging to stay on top of your game.
