Currently on the Australian leg of her Adele Live 2017 tour for her third studio album 25, British singer Adele has confirmed that she has married her long-term partner, and father of her four-year- old son, Simon Konecki a former financier and founder of charity drop4drop.

While it has not confirmed exactly when they tied the knot—it’s rumoured they wed late last year—the singer did confirm her marital status while performing in concert in Brisbane, saying, “I’m married now”.

During the March 4 show, she gave a brief and impromptu speech about love before singing “Someone Like You”, from her second album 21, saying:

“As bad as a breakup can be and as bitter and horrible and messy it can be, that feeling when you first fall for someone is the best feeling on earth. I’m addicted to that feeling,

“Obviously I can’t go through with those feelings because I’m married now. I found my next person”.

While she only confirmed the news during the Brisbane concert, it is not the first time she has mentioned being a “married woman”. During her acceptance speech at The Grammys in February, she said: “Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband, and my son—you’re the only reason I do it”.

This news is a rare glimpse into the singer’s life as she is normally quite private when it comes to matters so close to her as, after her second album, subsequent Grammy wins, and pregnancy, took a few years off to focus on her family, with very little getting out about her private life.

While she has a few more dates of her tour, which ends on March 19 in Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium before heading over to New Zealand, Adele will surely keep as much of her married life private, and deservedly so.
