Lady Gaga has performed on the first weekend of Coachella—the annual Music and Arts Festival in Coachella Valley, Southern California— and according to reviews, it went off with a bang!

Beginning her set with images of Gaga, including one of a snake coming out her mouth, she appeared on stage in a long leather, pointed shoulder jacket with a light in the middle of her torso, the crowd greeted her enthusiastically.

During her performance, she mixed up her set with some of her older hits like “Just Dance”, “Love Game” and “Telephone” (minus Beyonce given she withdrew from performing at the festival on doctors orders due to her pregnancy), then went onto tracks from her latest album Joanne, and also debuted her newest single, “The Cure”.

Also during her performance, Lady Gaga invited fans to be part of a film she is making called A Star Is Born, where she stars opposite Bradley Cooper as an up-and-coming singer on her way to success and Cooper is the man who rides on her coattails.

The film, which Cooper is also directing- his first, was originally released in 1937 and then remade twice since in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason and in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, will be Lady Gaga’s first turn as an actress, something she has wanted to for a while, saying in an Instagram post,

“I am so excited to star in my first movie alongside someone I’m so lucky to call my friend. I always wanted to be an actress on the big screen. The story of “A Star is Born” is so special and I’m so grateful to Bradley for making my dream come true. Can’t wait for you to meet Ally. She has her first scene in 5…”

For fans to part of the film, Gaga asked fans to make a $10 donation to her Born This Way Foundation and then dress up in ‘best western gear- including denim and boots’ as the film is set to have a country aesthetic.

Filming for A Star Is Born is set to happen on the Tuesday and Wednesday of Coachella’s week-long festival (April 18th and 19th).
