Following up from his 2015 release, Eons, Melbourne based singer songwriter has just released his latest album Slacker of the Year on Barely Dressed Records. His contemplation of love lost and love anew, exalted through shimmering guitars and Lawrie’s signature voice.

Leading up its release, the album has received critical praise for its heartfelt lyrics and intimate storytelling. The album received a four star review from themusic.com.au, stating “[Lawrie] should be considered one of this decade’s finest songwriters”. Writing for Stack, Jake Cleland, describes the album as “Gut Wrenching” in its juxtaposition of a “soaring lightness…anchored here by an ominous gloom”.

Although the album officially launched on the 9th, Lawrie will be belting it all out later this month at the Northcote Social Club, supported by New Band and Jess Cornelius. Tickets are available here.

The album is now available on Barely Dressed Records.
