Australian eSports moved from strength to strength over the last couple of years, and this huge new deal is only going to add fuel to the nerdy fire.

Movie lords Hoyts have announced a partnership with Gfinity eSports Australia to open a chain of eSports arenas in existing Hoyts locations around the country, the first will be in Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter and is set to open its doors in April this year.

The very first event to be hosted at the venue will be the inaugural Australian Gfinity Elite Series presented by Alienware. The arenas will be decked out with the very best gaming gear, along with full broadcast and production suites. It is hoped that the venues will help attract the mounting number of pro gaming events heading our way, while hosting matches all year round.

It’s a huge win for Australian eSports and it will encourage more domestic tournaments, along with the influx of international events. It’s just another step into the spotlight for eSports community.
