TV week have released the nominees for this year’s Logie awards, with a mainly male line-up going after the golden gong.

The Gold Logie nominees this year are Waleed Aly, Samuel Johnson, Rodger Corser, Peter Helliar, Grant Denyer and representing the females, Jessica Marais.

Waleed won the gong for the Best Personality On Australian TV last year for his work on The Project, and will be joined by fellow panellist Peter Helliar, who is on the Gold Logie list for the first time.

The nomination is also a first for Corser and Jackson, and a second for Marais.

The nominations come following a massive year of television in Australia- the quality of content in the drama and comedy genres has escalated substantially with breakout shows like Rosehaven (bless Luke McGregor’s heart) receiving a few votes, as well as incredible mini series including Barracuda and The Kettering Incident earning themselves nominations also.

The Logies, tacky as the event may seem to the unknowing eye, serve as an excellent reminder of the amazing television that Australia is capable of producing, as well as recognising the endless hours the crews put in to creating the magic we get to watch so easily at home every night.

Tune in on April 23 rd .
