The 2019 Met Gala took place on May 6that the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Touted as the fashion equivalent of the Oscars and chaired by the ultimate fashionista, Ms Anna Wintour herself, celebs, models and designers draped themselves in luxe and often outlandish fashions and strutted their staff on the red carpet.
The annual event isn’t just a chance for celebs to get frocked up and strike a pose; it’s actually a major fundraiser that first started way back to the 1940s. Every year brings a different theme, with 2019 being “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay. The celebs brought their best, with Lady Gaga donning a billowing pink gown which she stripped away to reveal chic black lingerie paired with glittering tights. Jenner sisters Kylie and Kendall wore feathered Versace while hip hop queen Cardi B donned a floor sweeping silk gown by Thom Browne.
