Hulu has just released the official teaser trailer for the brand new dystopian television series, The Handmaid’s Tale. And while the release isn’t set for a couple more month, now is the perfect time to ready yourself for a highly anticipated series set for the year.

The show is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name. The text is a speculative fiction piece set in a totalitarian government ruled by enforced Old-Testament ideologies that have resulted in strict class separation and oppression of women depending on their ability to reproduce or not.

The protagonist, Offred, falls under the class ‘handmaid’, and has the sole purpose of producing a child for the community.

While the novel was released in 1985, the themes and ideas still shockingly resonate in our contemporary society. Themes of conservatism and theocratic power, feminism and pollution are all still very present ideas discussed today.

So, if you’re into dystopian stories and feminist themes, then give this enticing series a go. Set to be released at the end of April this year, it’s bound to fall under one of the must-watches shows of 2017. Check out the trailer below.
