Another iconic woman of Hollywood has been taken from us: 84-year-old Debbie Reynolds, barely days after mourning the loss of her daughter.

After the latest news of beloved actress, Carrie Fisher, passing away just after Christmas, the mourning family, as well as the entertainment world lost another; Carrie’s mother, Debbie Reynolds.

Passing at only 60, Carrie was well known for her roles as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars franchise. On the 27th of December, the star lost her life as a result of a heart attack that occurred previously on a flight from London to LA the previous Friday.

Carrie’s family were busy preparing plans for her funeral when mother and popular actress herself, Debbie Reynolds, was rushed from her home in Bevery Hills to hospital after her son, Todd, reported a possible stroke to emergency services. The acting legend was soon announced dead, leaving the family with two tragic losses.

Debbie rose to stardom in Singin’ in the Rain, a film which would later give her the label of Hollywood royalty. She married Carrie’s father, Eddie Fisher, but soon divorced him after a famous affair between him and Elizabeth Taylor.

Debbie and her daughter had a complicated relationship over time, which included long periods apart without contact. In the past years, however, the two once again became close.

Carrie eventually followed in her mother’s footsteps and became, like her mother, one of the most well recognized and beloved actresses of our time. And the legacy still lives on, as Carrie’s daughter, Billie, also follows in her mother and grandmother’s acting footsteps.

Many are aching the loss of two incredible women in the entertainment industry, with celebrities and friends alike sending their love and support to the family. But even though we are heavily mourning today, we can still hold some comfort in knowing the two are together once more.
