Former Dance Moms teacher Abby Lee Miller has been sentenced to one year in prison and then two years probation for fraud charges.

Although Miller is only now being sentenced, she was originally charged back in 2015 when she was caught trying to hide nearly $1million of her income from her Dance Moms and other projects while also filing for bankruptcy.

In addition to her fraud charges, Miller was also charged with, and pled guilty to, concealment of bankruptcy assets, false bankruptcy declarations, and also plead guilty to a 2016 charge of not reporting an international monetary transaction.

While talking to People, Miller spoke about her situation, saying, “I made mistakes. I trusted people. But ultimately I have to take responsibility for those mistakes. I have to take the blame. I have to take the punishment”.

Similarly, she told ET “I feel relieved. I feel peaceful” that the situation has been resolved while outside the courthouse after being sentenced.

According to Deadline, she’s likely to serve only nine months, after which she will be transferred to a halfway house, and pay $230,000 in fees.
