Trump Derides Journalist for “not thinking”

In Washington today Trump was gearing up for a triumphant press conference at the White House Rose Garden. He was to announce the successful new trade deal between the US, Canada, and Mexico. The press conference took a bizarre turn, although not that bizarre as we’ve come to expect weirdness from all of his public appearances. He opened up question time to the press and chose ABC News’ Cecilia Vega to ask the first question, but instead of allowing her to speak he derided her and accused her of not having the ability to think. Yes, you read that correctly. Before the journalist even asked her question the interaction was as follows:

Trump: “She’s shocked that I picked her. She’s in a state of shock.”

Vega: “I’m not. Thank you, Mr President.”

Trump: “That’s OK, I know you’re not thinking. You never do.”

Vega: “I’m sorry?

Trump: “No, go ahead.”

It was an absolutely puzzling occurrence that had the rest of the crowd scratching their heads at the uncalled for insult.
