Mazarine Aqua: Carving a Place for Women’s Surfing on the Gold Coast

In 2016, the most inspiring place for women to meet up and hit the waves is the Gold Coast. Over 300,000 women have turned to local surf start up Mazarine Aqua to guide them in their ocean lifestyle.

Mazarine Aqua is the brainchild of Amanda Couzner (ex Surfing Australia) and focuses on carving a space to empower women to keep active, maintain their mental health and increasing self-confidence, all whilst looking amazing.

Amanda says, “Women want to do it all & to have the opportunity to experience all the benefits an ocean lifestyle offers. The current surf industry wasn’t meeting our standards, so I launched Mazarine Aqua to support them.”

“My dream is to see more women getting active in the ocean and feeling good about themselves as a result. Women want to take on more adventurous activities in their personal lives and they want to look good doing it,” Amanda Couzner continued.

The concept is catching on quickly with the team having shipped Australian and international designer swimwear to over 15 countries within just 7 months of launching!

The young company has struck the winning combination of function x fashion, Mazarine Aqua has a three pronged approach their female surf wear offer; Active Swimwear, Education, and Events.

Education

The Mazarine Aqua community is quickly growing online with over 300,000 organic video views on the learn to surf series – Six Steps To Surf Sister. Many local GC ladies have also taken advantage of the private surf lessons run by founder Amanda Couzner.

Events

200+ women have regularly participated in our Aqua-tivities events (Female surf & Stand up paddle boarding meetups). These inspiring female ocean activities are currently being held on the beaches of the Gold Coast & Byron Bay and it is only a matter of time before they hit Sydney and beyond!

Couzner’s entrepreneurial spirit comes after living and working in some of the world’s most beautiful coastal locations and a rewarding 10-year career in the surf industry. She has seen first-hand the confidence, fitness and inner peace that women enjoy from getting active in the ocean.
