Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 56, recently revealed she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer. Best known for her portrayal of Elaine on Seinfeld and US president Selina Meyer on Veep, Louis-Dreyfus took to Twitter to make the announcement.

Additionally, she took the opportunity to make the case for universal healthcare. In her post, she tweeted an image of this short statement:

“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”

The announcement has been met with an outpour of support from fellow celebrities and the general public alike. While many have tweeted responses of love, many more have echoed her call for universal healthcare in the United States.

This isn’t the first time Louis-Dreyfus has gotten political either. In a speech given at the SAG Awards earlier this year, she criticised the immigration ban President Trump was attempting to implement. This too was met with overwhelming support.

If laughter truly is the best medicine, then cancer has no chance against a comedic genius like Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
