Hidden down a flight of stairs outside Allendale Square, is Lalla Rookh. Opening its doors in 2012, this hidden gem likes to think of themselves as your much-loved inner city local. They have stools for one, intimate tables for a few and open spaces to gather many.

Grab a drink and a bite to eat in the courtyard, bar or lounge. Gather in the dining room for an il Capo (let us feed you) feast or if you’re after a special drop to drink in or takeaway, head to the Wine Store.

Head Chef, Alexandra Haynes draws upon her love and personal experience of Italy and its food to create a menu that reveres produce, tradition and creativity in equal measure. Every dish is a delight, but some stand outs include crab spaghetti, grilled octopus and smoked pork neck. If dessert is more your thing, Lalla doesn’t disappoint. Try the ricotta bomboloni with honey, mascarpone & thyme for a little fried drop of heaven. For something a little unexpected, try the orange gelato with black pepper and meringue.

Summer or winter make Lalla Rookh your first stop when visiting Perth, your taste buds will thank you for it.
