This is the most inspiring thing you’ll read today.

Go after your dreams

Get up, go to school, get a job, white picket fence, comfortable job, mortgage, family, pass away.

All the while teaching your children by example to do exactly the same.

Is that it? Really? Is that really what all this is going to amount to for you?

This incredible opportunity we have to be alive in this era and you’re just going to settle for the average for the sake of what? An extra 30 minutes sleep each day?

For a little extra comfort? For a life of answering to someone else’s wishes until you turn out the light on your final day in the office 40 years from now?

What was the point of it all then?

Do you have any idea what the odds are of you being alive? Let alone a healthy, functioning being that has the ability to read the words on this screen?

To even afford the computer or phone you’re reading it on, on top of that?

And over and above all of that, you live in Australia.

Stop acting like you don’t have every single opportunity in this world to go after whatever the hell you want.

Any time you’ve been convinced that you had to live life a certain way in this country was a lie.

You live in a country where the worst thing that could happen if you go after your dreams and fail, is that the government will give you a house and other people will pay your taxes for you.

That is ‘failure’ within these incredible borders.

I’m the last kind of guy to get a southern cross tattoo – but that’s a pretty incredible place to live by any standards.

Do you have any idea how many people would kill to have the opportunities you do?

If they could see you settling for whatever you’ve settled for – especially if your career is making you unhappy, and even after being aware of the freedom you have to choose a different path – they would remain in utter shock until the day they died.

Think it’s worse than that? Then what is it really?

Think you’ll look like a fool in front of your friends?

Think it might be embarrassing if you fail?

Think maybe you’ll lose the investment you’ve been saving for a rainy day?

If that’s what you’re allowing to hold you back – then the average life is exactly what you deserve, and I apologise for wasting each other’s time here. I shouldn’t have posted the link and you shouldn’t have clicked it – we stuffed up.

But if you’ve been sitting on the sidelines for a while now – entertained by the idea of a grand decision but unable to actually make it yet – then quit reading right now and go do something.

You don’t need to know all the answers and you never will – you simply need to be grateful for this relatively incomprehensible opportunity you’ve been given in this country and act upon it.

Take some action.

Any action.

And do it now.

Click out of this window, right now, and do something your future self will thank you for.

Because if you don’t do it now – then you never will.

Choice is yours, so what’s it going to be?
