Stress Down Day

On July 24th, Lifeline Australia will be hosting their annual Stress Down Day, which helps raise money for the organisation and their national helpline (13 11 14).

According to Lifeline, research shows that 90% of Australians need to stress less. Most of us are getting caught up in things that can be easily avoided. In fact, 74% of people are feeling tense due to work-related stress.

So, how can you de-stress your work life? Here are five ways you can ease the pressure on Stress Down Day.

  1. Organise yourself

It’s simple, but effective. Get a diary, use a calendar, even set reminders in your phone. If you feel on top of things, you have less reason to feel you can’t get something done.

Here are some apps that might help you organise yourself:

  1. Meditation techniques

You can find great meditation and yoga tutorials online. Taking time out to implement these activities into your morning routine, can bring a positive start to the day. Whether it’s five minutes or up to an hour, the results will be highly beneficial.

  1. Chat to a friend

If there’s something stressing you out, whether it’s your boss or your workload, it’s always good to talk it out with a friend. You never know – once you’ve discussed it, it might not seem like such a big problem after all.

  1. Book in a holiday

Sometimes all you need is a bit of motivation. It might make your work days easier if you know that eventually, you’ll be lying on a beach in Bali. Some last-minute holidays are available online at Skyscanner.com.

  1. Make a list

Write a list of everything you need to do in a single day, and cross them off as you complete them. You’ll be surprised how satisfying it is to see that list shrink. Try out the app Do! which allows you to easily create a to-do list and keep track of your progress.

If these tips aren’t enough for you, Lifeline is always there to reach out. More information is available on their website, https://www.lifeline.org.au/ or contact 13 11 14.
