Fitness trends seem to change as rapidly as Melbourne’s weather- a little joke for the weather enthusiasts within our readership am I right guys?!

First it was Crossfit, then it was reformer pilates and now it seems the latest and greatest fitness trend is F-45, or Functional Training for 45 minutes. I see what they did there.

F-45 sees participants getting sweaty through high intensity interval training (HIIT), as well as circuit and functional training. There are 27 different workouts to choose from, each designed to burn fat and build muscle in an unrivalled way.

Basically you work your butt off (literally) for a short amount of time, rest, and then work it off again. And again and again. 40 seconds on and 20 seconds off, for 45 minutes to be precise.

Celebrities on the F45 band wagon are Ricky Martin and Nicole Richie, who both have banging bods by contrived magazine standards- if it’s good enough for Ricky it’s good enough for me do you know what I mean?

It’s not free though, and you can expect to pay around $60-65 per week for your membership, these prices varying depending on the costs of the gym you choose to attend.

Attached below is the F45 website so you can find the closest studio to you (there’s around 500 of them in Aus so chances are there is one around the corner), as well as a video of what all the fuss is about.

Let’s get sweaty Melbourne.
