CrowdInk sat down (virtually) with Mithuri Sharma, a representative of Nim-Veda, an affordable, organic personal care company. She covers fashion, styling, entrepreneurship, and the importance of always, always, always, networking in this fantastic advisory interview for those looking to start their own business or take their existing business to the next level.

CrowdInk: Tell us about your brand, how did you get started, what was your inspiration?

Mithuri Sharma: Our brand is centred around providing everyone with an Affordable Organic solution when it comes to their personal care and now, raw food ingredients as well. Our company was founded in 1997 by our father and my sister, Mayunka and I came on board about two years ago, bringing our combined expertise of Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Public Relations/Journalism, Communication and Business to the corporation.

My father is the Marketing expert. Many of our products have a very strong Neem (declared as the Tree of the 21st Century by the UN thanks to its various and infinite benefits) element as well as other Ayurvedic extracts. We have recently also launched a Certified Organic/Organic raw food ingredient brand which is growing in terms of size and options everyday. We are also a preferred supplier for Cooperatives Australia wide for our Indian and Australian Food Products and we also have premises in Australia and India as well.

We’re about to launch a flagship store in India this year taking along the Australian concept of quality with us and are also a proud Blue Mountains Sustainable Organisation (as declared by the Blue Mountain City Council). For more information on us, please visit www.nimveda.com/about-us.

CI: What’s one fashion accessory that you can’t live without?

MS: Our luscious Body Butters, because though they may not be fashion accessories in the traditional sense, it ensures that my feet and hands stay baby smooth so I can showcase my nine inch heels and countless obsession for silver rings and bracelets!

CI: How do you spend your free time?

MS: I’m a sucker for reading and am also a writer (I have a blog at mpsharmaauthor.wordpress.com where I vent about everything life related really!). I also read a lot on the organic and health space to increase my knowledge in the area.

CI: What your number 1 styling advice for women?

Oiling your hair regularly! This is an ancient Indian tradition which is passed down from generation to generation. Luscious, long locks are very important in the Indian culture and oiling your hair not only ensures that a good scalp massage is conducted regularly, but also makes sure that your scalp and hair are appropriately moisturised. This is the secret to what some call beautiful Indian hair!

CI: What your tip for aspiring entrepreneurs?

MS: Being an entrepreneur is difficult. Everyone will tell you so and often those closest to you will wonder about your new-found insanity, but the only piece of advice I can give is don’t give up! Ever!

Make sure you put you and your business out there at every opportunity you get and make sure you do as many guest contributions with wonderful online publications such as this one at every chance you get to increase your brand exposure and awareness. Also, make sure you network, network, network. You  never know who you may be able to help and who may help you in the future.
